H1 to H4 options - need to quit job

Hi,

I am on H1b visa and I am currently having a lot of problems at work. So I want to quit my job as soon as possible. My husband sent documents to file for H4 for me, along with his H1 extension docs as his visa is till oct 2011 and his company said they will file by Aug 8th.

How long does it take to get the receipt?

If I get fired before I get the receipt will I go out of status?

What other options do i have?

Can somebody answer my questions ASAP?

As long as the H4 COS application is on file, you are OK. If your spouses company is using PP both of you will get status extensions together. Worst case 2500 USD buys a return ticket to your home and you can come back with the H4 visa. This is not at all an issue/.
