I had my interview on 24th May in Hyerabad as well.

I was asked the same questions, given a 221(g) and was sent a questionaire. I work in IT and have an MS in Electrical.

My case might be a TAL check ( VISA MANTIS ) or a Name Check ( I have a very common muslim name, I was given a 221(g) during my F1 stamping coz of that ) or maybe both :)

I think yours is a TAL check.

Refer to the following links for more info :

Average wait time is 70 days according to this :

Couple of my friends got it in exactly 30 days last month, so lets hope for the best.

I guess my case might be related to my name ( I am a muslim with a very common name ) or maybe a TAL check ( VISA MANTIS ). AP was done in about 30days for my F1 stamping, not sure how much time its gonna take now.

As for your case, I am sure that it is a TAL chec. Google VISA MANTIS for more info.

I suspect the firm needs to clarify this alleged discrimination and either confirm or refute the myth of the "common Islamic name" and if they refute it they should automatically have their software remove any such attributions.

Well, I dont expect you to believe me, but at the end of my F1 Visa interview( which lasted for like 30 seconds ) the VO told me that since I have a common name I had to go through some Administrative Processing.

Also, I have never come across anyone with the same last name as mine who was given the Visa without a 221g.
