So my company applied for L1 to H1 conversion(COS) which was approved until 11/11/2012. To be on a safer side my company applied for L1 extension, which was also approved until 12/12/2012. I have reached the max out of L1 by this date. Since my L1 is approved , I am currrently on L1 until 12/12/2012. By the end of this year, obviously i have to apply for L1 to H1 conversion , since my L1 maxout period is over and L1 will not be extended beyond 5 years. Now my question is , when I apply for L1 to H1 conversion, will I get a new H1 or will i get transfered to the already approved H1? Link to comment

Company B is sponsoring H1b for fresh quota which starts from 1st APR 2012.If it is approved in Jun 2012, will my L1 visa Void immediately?According to the information I had in this forum one is not eligible to work on H1b before 1st OCT 2012.If so how to stay in US from Jun to Oct 2012.What is the best approach? pontevecchio Posted January 22, 2012 Report Share Posted January 22, 2012 Your L1 status continues until the L1 I94. If the H1 is approved with COS you will start for the H1 company from October,1. If the H1 is approved or CP you will need to leave and get the visa before starting. Link to comment
