H4 extension while my wife is India. Need Advise.

Hi Gurus,

My wife is presently in India and is planning to come back in Feb 2012. She has a valid H4 visa on her passport until Apr 2012.

While she is in India my company filed her H4 extension and it got approved yesterday.

Now my question is

1) Can she return back from India on her existing visa or does she have to get H4 visa stamped again?

2) If she can come back on her existing visa, do I have to send her the new H4 approval notice (original) or can she come back with the existing H4 as it is still active.

Please let me know.

H4 is merely a status. There is no H4 petition per se. Hence she can use her existing visa to come back. She will get status based on an I94 reflecting your H1 petition end date.

Thank you for your prompt response. And just to confirm.....she wouldn't need the latest H4 approval letter that USCIS just sent to me to get into the country right?
