Does Visa stamping supercede visa extension ?

My H1 visa is expiring in Feb 2012. I am going to India for stamping in Dec. My Visa extension approval is expected to come by last week of Nov or Mid Dec.

1. If I get extension before I go for stamping, will my visa be stamped as per old petition or new extension?

2. If I get extension after visa stamping,

(a) will visa stamping supercede my extension petition?

(b) what date will my I-94 have?
