zak74
My friend is here on L1A. His company has not filed GC yet. Even if they do, they have stopped filing it in EB1 cateogyr and will do only on EB2 or EB3. Friend's wife has got EAD due to his L1A status. 1. Can she work independently as a freelancer without having be on any employer's W2? 2. Is she eligible to apply for I-485 (Green Card) independently? Thx Z Link to comment
pontevecchio
1. The EAD which she has gives her unconditional work authorization within its valididty in any field for any company. 2. Yes. Any person who qualifies can have a sponsor apply for her GC as well as her H1 if she chooses. Link to comment

Belle
Regarding answer no. 2, does she has to go through the LC, I-140 route for GC? Of course, all the regular stuff. Her EAD does not really mean anything for the green card process; it's just a by-product of being on L2. Link to comment
pontevecchio
That is dependent on her credentials as a couple of categories may not need employer sponsorship. Most will need sponsorship. Link to comment
