joejsn Posted May 11, 2011 Report Posted May 11, 2011 I need a new I94 as old one is upto June 2011 I797 is upto June 2012 so I will travel to Canada by road and back by road. My question is to whom to handover the old I94 I read in this forum if u go to Canada it's not necessary to handover the I94 but I want to hand it over as I need a new one !! So another question, will I be able to get a new I94 ? I plan to enter Canada and make a U turn back into US. Thanks
pontevecchio Posted May 11, 2011 Report Posted May 11, 2011 Give the US border post the I94. Tell them you need a new I94. 6 Dollars. You have to open your mouth.
joejsn Posted May 17, 2011 Author Report Posted May 17, 2011 Thanks Pontevecchio I found out later we have to hand over the old I94 to the Canadian Immigration if we travel to Canada by road. This is documented on the back of the I94 !!
pontevecchio Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 You do not need to. As long as you hand it over while coming back and to the US POE Officer that is fine. If the Canadian Officer will take it,fine. He does not need to as he works for Canada. Usually by road they will not take it. Secondly most people working here use AVR and hence the very concept of collecting the I94 is alien. In fact you have to literally cajole them to take it even while flying.
