dasindra Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 Hi, We received green cards for me and my wife. My wife's green card has an error. It has wrong sex (Male) instead of Female. Everything else is ok. I have few questions. Please give us an idea based on your experience. 1. I understand we have to use form I-90 to rectify the error. Is that correct? Do we need to send back the original green card or can we send a copy? Can we send her EAD copy to prove that error was from USCIS side. Anything else? 2. How long does it take to get the correct card back? 3. If my wife need to travel meanwhile, what can she do? I was thinking that she can take an INFOPASS appointment and get I-551 stamp so that even if it takes a long time, she can travel. As I understand, the stamp is valid for a year. Is that ok? or can we rectify anytime later? Please suggest as we are worried.
Belle Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 Read on the internet what needs to be done. One thing for sure is that EAD does not prove anything other than you checked the right gender box on the EAD application.
pontevecchio Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 Please read this page fully. http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=b3f7ab0a43b5d010VgnVCM10000048f3d6a1RCRD&vgnextchannel=db029c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD 1. Correct. You have to send her original in this case. You may attach copies of her AOS approval and receipt to verify her details. 2. 3-6 months. 3. She can get a stamp if she needs one for travel. Please note you do not have to pay anything.
