H4 stamping

Hi experts, need your suggestion.

One of my friend got an extension for H1B. His new I797 is valid between 16the Sept 2011 and 12th Oct 2013. His current I-797 is expiring on Sept 15th 2011.

Now his wife is going for H4 stamping for the first time. Do he had to put his current I797 for stamping or the new one which is valid from Sept 16th 2011? If he uses his current I797, his fear is that his wife may get stamping only for few months or may put query asking to get an extension.

What is the best way for his wife to fill in information in DS160? use the current or future?
