H4 stamping while H1B stamping is pending

Hi,

My H1B and wife's H4 stamp on our passport is expired during Sept-2010. We both have our extension (I-797 with I-94 at the bottom) till Sept-2013. Now my wife is planning to visit India with my son (He is 1 year old and an american citizen by born), during Sept 2011 and she has to go for stamping.

Is it OK to go for H4 stamping without having H1B stamping done?

Please provide your suggestions or any recent experience at Mumbai consulate.

yES. Any delay will be due to your H1 credibility and documentation. The child has no connection to the matter.
