hpjack433
I am on H1 and my wife is on H4. Since she doesn't have SSN, she is not eligible to apply for credit card. So i went ahead and asked the credit card company to give her the credit card on her name under my account and they issued the card. Can my wife use her card? will it affect her in the future? Since she would be using that card, she would be building credit score right? and building credit score without SSN will be an issue? will that cause any issue? Eagerly waiting for your valuable feedback Thanks again Link to comment
pontevecchio
She can use the card. NO Issues as regards the rest. Call the CC issuer and ask whether they will report her credit history. Link to comment
Attorney_6
If the card is validly issued, it can be used. The card is probably just for an authorized user, not a separate account in her name. Link to comment
stonecold_1981
As other said, she can definitely use the credit card without any issues. However, I don't think she will be building any credit history using that card. It is not a separate card, just an add-on i.e. you bear the ultimate responsibility of repaying the monthly amounts. harihere
The card should be an additional card under the same account. Any transaction made under that card should appear under same account. The additional card has nothing to do with Credit History / Score of your wife. It is linked to your credit account. Some people do that for their parents on visitor visa. Link to comment
pontevecchio
There was a move to not report the history of authorized users. But that move has not taken on. Ask the bank directly. Get your wife a secured credit card if she needs a credit history. Link to comment
