thendollarbed
Hello everyone, I'm currently on the H1B visa working with an employer. However, I have passed the realtor exam and am planning to work as a realtor part-time. I was speaking with a real estate broker and they mentioned they would provide me with a 1099 form as an independent contractor. My question is, can I work as a realtor and pay taxes with a 1099 form while my H1B visa is held by my employer? Thank you. Quote Link to comment

JoeF
No, you can not do that. On H1 you can ONLY work for your employer, you can not be self-employed nor work for anybody else. Edited May 3 by JoeF Quote Link to comment
