Need Guidance on I-140 EAD Based on Compelling Circumstances

Hello

 

I will be loosing my job end of march. Currently I am on H1B visa with approved I-140 (Priority date Sept 2016). 

 

The termination of employment is causing harm to myself and my dependents. My son is a tenth grader in high school, as of yet a minor, and this termination of employment would require us to leave the country and pose several hindrances to his secondary school education given that he has thus far been educated in the United States and is an American citizen. In addition to this, the termination of employment would force me to sell my house which is currently on a mortgage. My wife, who is another dependent, would also be required to leave her employment. Based on the information provided on the USCIS website, if one has an existing approved I-140, it is possible to file for an Adjustment of Status based on Compelling Circumstances.
