Do i need to file H4 for my family

I was laid off from my previous company. Now, while transferring my H1B to a new employer, do I need to file an H4 extension for my dependents?

If the H1b transfer/extension expiry  date does not match with the expiry date of your H4 dependents then yes it is a good idea to file H4 extension for your dependents.

Alternatively you can also get H4 stamping for your dependents, using your new H1b approval,  once you visit India (before their current H4 expires).
