H1B VISA - CHANGING FROM MECH ENGG IN OLD COMPANY TO COMP SC ENGG IN NEW COMPANY

Hello,

I am currently working as a manufacturing engineer in XXX company and it is been two years. I am thinking of learning coding and move to a CS company in USA. I already have a H1B visa with the mech engg job that i have right now. 

Please let me know what issues I will be facing in my VISA if I want to switch to a new CS company and what I can do mitigate them.

I think if you enroll into Masters program in Computer Science and then switch to CS company in US, it should work out for you.  Make sure that the university is accredited.  Good Luck.

For an H1B job, you need to have education or a combination of education and experience in a relevant field of study. We have filed petitions for people with mechanical engineering degrees in IT jobs, but those workers had to show relevant work experience in IT to qualify for the IT job despite their mech engg education background.
