H1 B- Drop box appointment with softcopy of i-797 A

Recommended Posts

My H-1B extension got approved on January 23rd, 2023, but I didn't receive the approval notice. It seems like it was lost in the mail. However, my employer managed to obtain an e-copy of the I-797A from USCIS. This is not a photocopy but rather a printed version on plain paper without any letter head or watermark on it. In addition, my employer has already filed an I-824 to request a duplicate copy of the I-797A. However, the processing time for the I-824 is currently estimated at 20 months. I am currently planning to visit India and I need to go for stamping through the dropbox process. I'm unsure whether the embassy will accept the soft copy of the I-797A.

Has anyone faced a similar situation in the past and had success in getting the visa stamped?
