What happens to Priority Date when Converting H1B to H4 visa and will I be losing existing H1B?

Hello,

Due to budget issues, I lost my current project, and I am on H1B and it's approved until 04/2026. I have approved I140, and priority date is 2021 September. I am planning to convert to H4 visa. If in future if I plan to convert again to H1B visa what will happen to my existing H1B, and will there be any change to my priority date?

Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

Nothing happens. The I-140 petition from your employer has nothing to do with your nonimmigrant status in the US. In fact, you don't even have to have ever been in the US for your employer to petition you. If your employer withdraws the I-140, then that's another story.

The I-140 PD doesn't change, it simply is the date the I-140 was filed.
