FitMPKa Posted May 30, 2023 Report Posted May 30, 2023 Oct 2022 - I did a change of status to H1B from H4. May 2023 - I lost my job and will be switching to H4. I have applied for COS to H4. I had my EAD valid till Sep 2023 After my H4 is approved , can I work with that existing EAD ? Can I apply for EAD extension and continue to work with the expired EAD ? Quote

Given that the law requires one to be in H4 status to work based on the related EAD Category, then one who has a valid card from a prior time in H4 status should be able to use it once their status has been changed to H4. Zodiac System Posted June 2, 2023 Report Posted June 2, 2023 Going by what Attorney_15 has advised, after your H4 is approved, you should be able to continue working after you have applied for H4 EAD extension, as you will then qualify for automatic EAD extension. Good Luck. Quote
