indian101
1.After getting GC, how long should one stay with the sponsoring employer before switching to a different employer ? 2.What is the max duration a GC holder can stay outside the US at any time without losing the GC status ? 3. If the reason for staying outside the US is employment at a non-US location, but still by the GC sponsoring employer and if this stay is long (several years) can it still be counted towards the 5 year "continuous stay" required for naturalization ? redgreenbluee
please consult a lawyer. ideally, 6 months of stay after GC approval. travel should be temporary in nature and less than 180 days. see N470 to work for non-US location from your US employer. pontevecchio
Well..OK. 1. The firm suggests 6 months though not written in stone and if the firm fires you the next day you are free to seek other employment. 2. Why would a GC holder need to know? Any stay more than 1 year is not allowed..as a general rule. 3. GOOGLE N-470. Talk to a Lawyer proactively. Check out GOOGLE results on all three questions. Link to comment
