Mohan Singh
I am a Canadian. I first came on H1B in 2019 and got an I-94 with a “stay-up-to” date of 09/08/2022. Then I changed jobs a couple of times, but never exited the US. My current I797A is valid up to 2024. At its bottom is the detachable I-94 with validity date up to 12/04/2024. With this, my understanding is that my previous I-94 has now been “updated” with this new I-94 with a new “stay-up-to” date. In fact, the very first sentence of my I797A is “The above petition and request for extension of stay have been approved.” So legally I don’t need to exit the US by 09/08/2022, and I won't be out of status if I don't exit. Am I right in my understanding? Quote Link to comment
newacct
Yes. When you get a new I-94, it supersedes any previous I-94s you may have received, which are no longer valid. Quote Link to comment
