hiralshah
Hi, I'm currently on an H-4 visa. I'm admitted into the University for the Master's program this fall. The university is going to issue me the change of status I-20. Do I have to wait till the start of the semester to apply for a change of status through USCIS or I can do it before I can start studying? (I'm not planning to go for stamping, just a change of status through USCIS). Quote Link to comment
pontevecchio
You can apply as soon as the I-20 is issued, I suspect up to 6 months before the start. The COS can only be approved up to one month before class. You should touch base with the Admissions dept. to answer most of your questions. Yes, You can study in H4 status should you wish. Look at the admissions site/department site/university site. Usually, they have FAQ'S answering most questions.
