amit2505
My Mother in law, arrived in US on Feb 2020. 65 yr old. Because of the Pandemic, we applied for an extension of her stay on B2 from October '20 - Feb '21. We have not received any response from USCIS other than the original receipt of application acknowledgment. So at this point, we don't know the fate of the first B-2 extension application. Her husband is still in India. Trying to evaluate if it is a good idea to apply for 2nd extension (from Feb' 21- October '21) or go back to India. Our concern is that Travel is not safe for her advanced age and underlying health conditions. We have our own health insurance. Prior to this US trip, she has traveled a lot throughout the world. 1: Is it ok to apply for a 2nd extension under this unique situation? Any specific criteria that would help her qualify 1a) Is it ok to have multiple pending B2 visa extension applications? 2: Does applying for 2 extension applications, limit her future travels to US? Koti85
My parents are in the same situation. No decision yet on the first extension. Not sure if it is safe to apply for a second extension. Any suggestions would be helpful. Quote Link to comment

The 1st extension can be up to 6 months but can the 2nd extension be that long??? I have read online on a couple of websites that you can stay a max. of 240 days in total after your I-94 expired, which is 6 months + 2 months. I don't know if this is true or not. I am in the same boat. I cannot get past the computer assistant when ringing USCIS phone number to speak to a person. I sent a message to them via my online USCIS account. Hope they reply soon. Ziannejames
I can answer your second question: 2: Does applying for 2 extension applications, limit her future travels to US? I had extended my moms Visitor visa twice and had gotten approval from USCIS. We had applied the third time as well, but she left before we got any response. She got an RFE the third time and we never responded to that. So she stayed from Oct 2015 to June 2017. She was able to re-enter US on March 2020 without any issues/questions. Hope this helps!
