Sai Chandra
Hello, My father has filed an I-485 application (Adjustment of Status) and my H4 visa expires on June 20th, 2021. I will also be turning 21 years on September 19, 2021. So, I am planning to go to India for a change of status to an F1 visa. Can I go to India for an F1 visa, while the I-485 application is pending here in early March or April because of the expiry of H4? Do you think the visa interviewer will question my I-485 application? What are the options? I have filed an F1 change of status here already in August and there is no reply so far. newacct
It's very likely you will be denied an F1 visa. Even if you had an F1 visa, you are not supposed to enter the US with it intending to do AOS during that stay. Why not just stay in the US with your pending I-485 and continue to study? JoeF
The F1 doesn't allow immigration intent. Tou can't get an F1 with a pending I-485. Tou can study just fine with a pending I-485. Quote Link to comment
