will i go out of H1 status

HI sir/ Madam 

I am in a Situation , where I was doing my second masters from one university , I got my H1b approved with COS 
Now I am planning to drop the university , As I use to pay the fees in the 4 installments I paid one installments and planning to leave other installments unpaid as I am dropping from the university .

Now my university has mailed me telling if I don't pay complete fees , I might go out of status as I was enrolled into college and was on status of F1 till oct 1st 
if i dont pay complete fee it shoes that I was not enrolled and I was out of status till then. 

Please let me know what I need to do , should pay the complete fee or should not.
