Can my sister (40 years old) apply US citizenship for me me (36 years old)?

Hi,

I am 36 years old and my sister is 40 years old.  We are from India and I am in USA working on H1 visa. Can my sister apply citizenship for me as I am her sibling?

If she is a US citizen she can, but it takes 12+ years.

And it wouldn't be citizenship. She can sponsor a Greencard for you, which would take 12+ years. Once a person has a Greencard for 5 years the person can apply for citizenship.

For India, F4 Greencard category will take 18 to 20+ yrs because of the 7% country cap. My brother applied Greencard around 2009 and I do not see any kind of improvement. There are some Greencard calculator websites that will give you an approximate date. Current situation is very bad, but it may change, it all depends on the next government and changes in the existing law, etc.
