silkroute Posted July 22, 2020 Report Posted July 22, 2020 How do the recent changes in immigration rules impact international travel for H1B holders? I need to travel outside the US for research and have a valid H1B visa (stamping expires in August 2020). Is it safe to travel? If I were to travel to India for visa stamping will there be problems reentering the US? Thank you. Quote
gopalakrishnach Posted July 22, 2020 Report Posted July 22, 2020 Is it safe to travel? -- since your visa expires on August 2020 you need new visa stamping and now you cannot get it. Thats the EO. Quote
silkroute Posted July 25, 2020 Author Report Posted July 25, 2020 Thank you for your reply. Essentially it then means that one cannot fly out of the US even if the H1B is valid. I presume that the US Consulates are not even giving appointments for visa stamping anywhere. Quote
User099 Posted July 28, 2020 Report Posted July 28, 2020 There have been few exceptions made recently and I think you should be able to get a visa and travel back. But its better to have an attorney review your case and advice you if you plan on going for stamping as things are changing everyday. Quote
