Sk22 Posted June 16, 2020 Report Posted June 16, 2020 Hi all, I am an international student currently working on Stem OPT which expires on Sep 11. My F1 visa is expiring on July 9th and my work visa is in process. Today I received an email from Hyderabad consulate saying my current non-immigrant visa is revoked. The email was not so clear. I have attached a screenshot here. 1. I am wondering if I am allowed to stay and work in USA? 2. How do I know if this email is Legit and the reason for revoke? I have contacted my school DSO and Immigration attorney, they said they couldn't verify the email address and email might be a scam. I verified the email address online and it seems to be correct email address provided in the Website. My DSO confirmed there is no change to my SEVIS portal and this email should not effect my status. I am confused, Please help. TIA !!! Quote
pontevecchio Posted June 16, 2020 Report Posted June 16, 2020 The visa is an entry document/foil. The I94 lets you stay. Quote
JoeF Posted June 16, 2020 Report Posted June 16, 2020 A visa is an entry document. Your status and allowed stay in the US is determined by your I-94, which for students usually says D/S (Duration of stay) and has no end date. Did you have a DUI or something like that? That usually leads to the visa being revoked. But anyway, this looks like a scam. The Consulate would have your name, and not address an email to "Dear <whatever>". The "Undisclosed recipients" addresses also is a clear indication that it is a scam sent to a bunch of people. Finally, sender email addresses are trivially faked. You would have to look at the email source text, and checked the "Received: From" lines. Quote
Sk22 Posted June 16, 2020 Author Report Posted June 16, 2020 (edited) Thanks for taking your time to reply, I tried replying to the original email but haven't received any reply yet. I do not have a DUI or anything, Will update If I receive any email or letter from them. Thank you. Edited June 16, 2020 by Sk22 Quote
