srinath222
Hi, I am currently on OPT and my OPT is till Feb 2020. I will be registering for CPT after Feb 2020 and will be filing my H-1 Visa in April 2020 on CPT . I want to start my GC Processing and getting I-140 approved will take atleast 1 year. If I start the processing now, will there be any effect on my H-1 Visa or H-1 Stamping in the next year ?? Please advise. Edited September 18, 2019 by srinath222 Quote Link to comment
pontevecchio
Consorting with dubious colleges which offer 'CPT" at will is a recipe for disaster as far as a career here is concerned. You do realize that an employer needs to file for you. H1 is in any case dual intent. Quote Link to comment
JoeF
You can't use CPT after a year of OPT. The law allows only one year or Practical Training (+ possibly STEM OPT) per educational level. Abuse of CPT will kill your future in the US. You won't ever get an H1 nor a GC if you abuse CPT.
