Hello ,

I work as a full time employee and I have stem extension eligibility till 2021 to utilize my stem to fullest my company is going with h1b consular processing so my question is if my h1b is approved and I have to switch company what would be my situation as I still will be in f-1 status and what happens to my approved H1b

You can not change employer in that case or your H1b is gone.

To change employer you have to start working on H1b with original petitioner.

There is no such thing as H1 consular processing. All H1s are processed by USCIS.

The I-129 allows for Consular Notification, where a Consulate is notified of the H1 decision. You then would have to get an H1 visa from the Consulate just like everybody else who needs to get an H1 visa while abroad.

For your first H1, you would have to start working for the original H1 employer before you could transfer the H1.
