regarding visa stamping in India

Hello everyone,

I need some advice regarding visa stamping in India. Here's my situation:

My husband came to US in Apr 2016 with company A. Later he moved to company B in Sep 2016 (H1 Transfer). His visa was renewed in Dec 2017 with company B and is valid till Nov 2020. Also I got my H4 EAD in Oct 2017. I am planning to go to India (Delhi) in October with my 3 year old kid. 

My question is:
1. Do I have to go to US Embassy (Delhi) to get my visa stamping done or is it not necessary. I heard that I don't have to appear for visa interview, just go to visa center to drop my passport but no need for visa interview.

I searched on internet, but I am not able to find any information regarding this. Would appreciate if someone has any idea of if someone has gone through similar situation and can guide me.
