helpseeker2017
My wife sponsored her mother but since she is not working she used my income as financial support . My mother in law green card . I am now separated from my wife and filing for divorce . I do not want my mother in law to get citizenship based on my sponsorship. Is there anyway i can take my name out or cancel the sponsorship? thank you in advance. Link to comment
JoeF
No. The financial obligations only end of the person has worked for 10 years in the US or if the person gets US citizenship. It can not be cancelled by the sponsor. Link to comment
pontevecchio
No. You are on the hook and will be until she becomes a citizen. Link to comment
pontevecchio
It is in your interest to have your MIL become a citizen as you are then off the hook. Link to comment
