Prudhvi2397
Hi, My wife is pursuing her MBA( final semester) and she lost her passport recently. We have contacted Mrs.Sushma Swaraj through twitter and she assured us that the Indian embassy in New York would provide her with a new passport. Our questions are : a) Does she have to go back to India to get her F1 visa stamp again ? Her F-1 status (in her previous stamping) was valid for 5 years. b) She will be applying for opt once she completes her studies this semester. Will it be any problem while applying for OPT assuming that she receives her new passport and does not get her visa stamp done. Note: She has photocopies of her lost passport and the visa page. She also has her I-20's. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Prudhvi Link to comment
pontevecchio
A new visa is required for travel purposes. I assume she has the D/S I94 with her. Any embassy would provide a replacement Passport for a citizen, Swaraj or no swaraj...Just kidding. For the future visa, she will need the police complaint with her. Link to comment
