RightMan Posted October 29, 2017 Report Posted October 29, 2017 I got my GC a couple of months after getting laid off from the sponsoring company. I was looking for a job and was not expecting to get my GC. After few months, I start working for another company with my GC. It is 9 years that I have my GC and I have been working and paying taxes. I am thinking about applying for Citizenship but I am worried if they find out that I was not working when I got my GC (BTW, can they find out?). What should I do? Should I just keep my GC and forget about the citizenship?
pontevecchio Posted October 29, 2017 Report Posted October 29, 2017 Apply for Naturalization any time. There will be no issue. If you have worries, make a consult with the firm of Murthy or any of your choice first.
RightMan Posted October 30, 2017 Author Report Posted October 30, 2017 Thank you ponteveccho. I will definitely call Murthy today. One more question: I met a lawyer on Thursday and he told me that USCIS would definitely ask about and check the petitioning company even though it happened 9 years ago. So in his view if they find out that I didn't work for the petitioning company after I got my GC, I have zero chance of getting n-400 approved and they might even revoke my GC. So he was wrong?
