H4 out of US when H1B employer changed

Hi Everyone,

I am in an unique situation and would love any input I can get.

I am currently on H4 visa and pursuing my Masters in Houston. As a part of my masters studies, I am participating in one year exchange(2017-18) to studies in Austria (I can do this only on H4 not F1 and I have the visa needed to study in Austria). At the end of my exchange study, I will still have one semester of coursework left (3cr), so I will need to re-enter US. I was originally going to re-enter US with my H4 visa but it turns out my husband might have a change in his employer. If this happens when I am outside US (in Austria) can I come back on my old but still VALID H4 or do I need to travel  to India for H4 stamping before I can come to the US?

Your H4 visa remains valid even if your spouse changes jobs. You will need to show the latest H1 petition and the H4 visa to come back.
