HelpMeForum
I've recently had a job break when on f1 opt, it was on 16th month of opt, half way through. I changed status immediately to h4-ead in October. Currently i got a job and working as h4ead.. Can i switch back to opt ead and complete the remaining opt period? Link to comment
JoeF
No. Once off F1, the F1 OPT is gone forever. Link to comment

b.m82
Hi @JoeF, A quick question: My wife converted from her H4 to F1 to pursue her M.S. She had an H4-EAD, but was never employed. She's graduating this summer and applying for her OPT. We find a question on the I-765 form: "Have you ever before applied for employment authorization from USCIS?” Are they talking about the H4-EAD card that she had earlier? should we answer “yes”? Do we have to provide any explanation/cover letter for the same? Would this be an issue in her getting an OPT? Would appreciate your inputs on the same. Thanks a lot in advance. Link to comment
JoeF
An EAD is employment authorization. That's what EAD stands for, Employment Authorization Document. So, that question has to be answered with a Yes. Link to comment
