MauveBeads Posted December 26, 2016 Report Posted December 26, 2016 I am a US citizen of Indian origin applying for GC for my parents. My Birth certificate is missing an 'H' in my mother's name. I have two Indian passports, one issued in 93 and one in 2003 both of which have my parents' names correctly spelled on the last page. Can I submit my BC along with notarized copies of the passports to show that they are indeed my parents? It is a pain to get the name changed in my city. Can I additionally create an affidavit stating they are my parents? Any input appreciated.
pontevecchio Posted January 12, 2017 Report Posted January 12, 2017 Maybe too late for you. But nowadays they do allow DNA proof and that costs about 3-400 USD. Send whatever you have and then if necessary get the DNA test done. They will not notice the discrepancy in any case.
