Sixth year on H1B - GC - I140 approval time

Hi All,

I am on H1B sixth year and my visa is getting expired on Sep 2017.I have found an employer who mentioned they could start  my GC process. 
But Given that I have only 10 months left on H1B and if my I140 is not yet approved by SEP 2017, what are the options to continue to stay in US while I wait for I140? Is it possible to convert to H4 and join work back once I140 is approved (The employer is ready to wait).

Yes, if your spouse is in valid H1 status.
