Apply for H4 EAD renewal with passport expiring soon

Hi, 

My indian passport expires in JAN 2017 and I have just applied for renewal of my passpor. MY EAD card also expires on the same day as my passport but my H4 Visa stamping on passport is till 2018. It may take 3-4 weeks to get my renewed passport. Wondering, if can apply for H4 EAD renewal now itself, so that I don't waste sometime while waiting for renewed passport. 

 

Will it be okay to apply for h4 EAD with current passport copy and produce the renewed copy after I receive? Please help

You have to wait till you get your passport renewed. USCIS usually checks the passport expiration date before issuing any approvals. Passport need to be valid for at least 6 months. Better to apply clean than confusing them.
