Daru_P
Hi. I’m currently on the last year of my OPT (Expired F1) with an approved consular H1B (2020). How complex is it to apply for a change of status while I reside in the US? I assume the COVID situation in India will take several months to abate. Or is it a safer option to go to Canada and get it stamped? Any experiences? Thank you! Quote Link to comment
LeaveMessageH1B
#1 No one can predict COVID, best bet is to be in home country. 2 hours ago, Daru_P said: How complex is it to apply for a change of status while I reside in the US? Not complex but long wait till you see an actual change. But in your case it's filed as CN, one must leave US- get stamped - enter again. check with your attorney if its possible to change. Zodiac System
Under the circumstances, you should be able to file an amendment with change of status to avoid going out of the country due to COVID. Many stamping appointments in India are getting cancelled due to COVID. Consult your employer/attorney on this. Edited May 4, 2021 by Zodiac System Quote Link to comment
