H1B - DS160 - consulate info

Recommended Posts

Hello. We are planning to travel to India next month and my husband has to schedule an interview for H1B visa stamping for his renewed H1B petition. On his DS-160 form, he has chosen Hyderabad as the consulate to submit his application. However, there are no available appointments at the Hyderabad consulate for the time when we will be in India. Mumbai, Kolkata and Delhi consulates have available slots. My question is: Can he choose Hyderabad in his DS160, but then can he attend an interview in any of the other consulates? Or should the consulate on the DS160 match up with the consulate he will be interviewing at?

Thank you!

That should be fine. Just fill a new DS-160 with which ever consulate you choose. Sometimes they update DS-160 number during finger printing appointment.

I was able to change my DS 160 number at Nogales Mexico on June 10 2019 during my finger printing appointment. You can also do same in your case. Fill up a new DS 160. Submit it and take confirmation page of old and new one to finger print and ask them to update it. They will do it.
