Engineer001
Hi Guys, I am working in US on H1B visa and my spouse has an H4 visa. I am applying for my H1B extension in June 2019, so what is the best route for H4 extension for my spouse: 1) Include H4 extension with H1 or 2) Visit any port of entry and get H4 extended? Please advise. Thanks! Quote Link to comment
newacct
If she leaves she won't be able to return on H4 after your H1b expires before it is extended, so is she going to wait outside the US until it is approved? Quote Link to comment
gopalakrishnach
Both are good. If you can apply for H4 extension with your H1B extension or go to any port of entry and get H4 visa stamping after your H1B is approved since they need your H1B approval. Quote Link to comment
Engineer001
Thanks for the response guys. Just to make sure I understood this correctly, since my spouse and I are Canadian Citizens it is okay for me just to apply for my H1B extension and after the approval, visit a port of entry for my spouse’s H4 extension on the basis of my approved H1B extension - correct? newacct
But what is your spouse going to do when your H1b status expires (and thus her H4 status expires), and your extension is still pending? Quote Link to comment
