H4 to Student Visa for High School

Hi

my son is doing his high school senior grade. He is right now in H4 visa.

Is there any options that I have to convert his H4 visa into Student visa so that he can finish his studies even if H4 extension got declined?

Yes. That is possible, but not a DIY project and you should involve a lawyer.

Public high school or private?

It is generally not allowed (see 9 FAM 402.5-5(K)) to attend public high school on F-1, unless it is for less than 12 months, and you reimburse the school for all educational expenses. Furthermore, you must get an I-20 from the public high school, and I don't know of any public school that does that.

For a private high school, he can attend on F-1 if the school issues an I-20.

Its a Public High School. Also the period he needs that is less than 12 months. 

In this case what could be the next step ?

I can also check with his School if they can issue I-20 for him.
