Ram1918
Hi my son is doing his high school senior grade. He is right now in H4 visa. Is there any options that I have to convert his H4 visa into Student visa so that he can finish his studies even if H4 extension got declined? Please suggest Link to comment
pontevecchio
Yes. That is possible, but not a DIY project and you should involve a lawyer. Link to comment

It is generally not allowed (see 9 FAM 402.5-5(K)) to attend public high school on F-1, unless it is for less than 12 months, and you reimburse the school for all educational expenses. Furthermore, you must get an I-20 from the public high school, and I don't know of any public school that does that. For a private high school, he can attend on F-1 if the school issues an I-20. Thanks for clarifying... Its a Public High School. Also the period he needs that is less than 12 months. In this case what could be the next step ? I can also check with his School if they can issue I-20 for him. Link to comment
