reddy_2016
Thank you for your reply. Is it possible to get new I94 with out traveling outside USA after passport renewal ? Link to comment
pontevecchio
It is possible for your employer to file another H1 petition for you before the current I94 expires. Other wise you can go to the Mexican border and return with a new I94. Get a tourist visa for Canada and spend a long weekend and return with a new i94. iS VACATION NOT ALLOWED BY YOUR EMPLOYER? reddy_2016
1) Yes, Vacation is allowed by my employer. Is it true that we will not be eligible to get new I94 when we travel to Canada and Mexico for less than 30 days ? 2) I guess we cannot apply for H1B extension prior to 6 months of expiry date. Can you please explain what do you mean by filing another H1B petition ? Thank you ! Link to comment

Your expiry date in US is based on I-94 not based on H-1 B visa or petition. So you are eligible to apply for extension 180 days before Feb 2018. Link to comment
reddy_2016
Thank you pontevecchio and shekar11#. I was able to extend my I-94 by visiting the Otay Mesa, California Enrollment Center. Below is my experience. Link to comment
