h1busybee
Hello All, I am towards the end of my 5th yr H1B. My 6th year will start in 2 months. I am a full time employee with a Fortune 500 and my employer just filed my PERM. As a backup option, I was looking for a consulting company who can do a GC for me , in parallel. I found a company who mentioned 1) They have current recruitment campaigns that are going on and can fit me in one of the positions. 2) After PERM approval and before applying to 140, they mentioned that I will have to change employers and join them and be on their payroll. I am pursuing this backup option , so that if anything goes wrong with the current F500 company, I can transfer H1B to the consulting company and also my GC will be running with them. What do you think guys? 1) Is it good to pursue this option 2) Are their terms and conditions , reasonable? Thanks, Link to comment

t75
It is required that you join the consulting firm as the GC is for a specific job. However, I personally believe it is unprofessional to do what you propose. Link to comment
h1busybee
Thank You for the response. I understand that I will have to join the consulting firm before 140 is applied and I am willing. Why is it unprofessional? Others please chime in. Thanks, Link to comment

Jyothis
Why do you think an XYZ consulting firm is better than a Fortune 500 company? You really need not join them prior to 140 filing. GC is based on the future job offer and you should join them once you get GC. Link to comment
JoeF
Hi t75, please respond why it is unprofessional? It is common sense. Both companies would have to spend money for the GC process, yet you only intend to work for one of the companies. That makes it unprofessional. Link to comment
h1busybee
Hi , Reopening an old thread. Would 2 PERM filing in a 3 month period cause an issues with the PERM itself ? like RFEs on any one of those? Link to comment
