H1B extension start date

Hi Everyone,

 

I have a question regarding H1B extension and any help would be appreciated.

 

My husband has H1B valid till 10th Sept 2016 and his company is planning to apply for extension next month i.e April 2016. So, if his extension gets approved before expiry date, What will be the start date of H1B extension? Will it be from 11th Sept 2016 or from the date of approval of extension?

It depends on what was the start date his new employer wrote on the I-129. You don't have to worry about the start date as the total H1B limit of 6 years will not be affected. All the best for him.
