Generally, when there is a typographical error on an I-94 issued by the USCIS, it is possible to correct it through the USCIS. For a USCIS error, one may call the customer service and ask to issue a corrected I-979. However, if there was an error on the application, one may need to file an I-102 correct the error.

I had a similar problem, I filled the I94 form wrongly at the POE. as a result both my first and last name went in to the last name field, and the first name was entered as FNU (first name unknown) i realised this after coming out of the airport. later i went to the CBP office in san fransisco explained this error of me and showed proof of my proper name and got it corrected in their database. After 25 days the name was reflected properly and i had to wait for this correction to happen in order to apply for my SSN . It is not a big deal dont worry
