My employer has filed extension and it got approved with start date from July 2016 to end date July 2019. I am planning to visit India in April first week and I need to attend visa interview as I currently do not have valid visa in my passport. Once I attend the interview, what would be my visa start date as I have two petitions now (Current petition and extension petition). Can I expect immediate visa start date and end date till July 2019 OR start date from July 2016 to end date July 2019 OR immediate start date till July 2016. Also do I need to show my current petition and extension during the interview. Thanks for your help. Link to comment
swetha1111 Posted March 18, 2016 Report Share Posted March 18, 2016 They will approve your visa based on the new petition. so, you will get your visa with start date as current date(visa interview date) till July 2019. Make sure you use your new petition number while filing the ds160. don't worry about the current petition. Link to comment

My visa expired in Jan 2014 hence I am thinking hyderabad (Home country) would be better option just incase even if visa processing gets delayed because of any admin processing I will be not be struck in Tijuana if i choose Mexico.
