telantra
Hi, I got my GC based on marrying to a US Citizen on Jan 30th 2014. Recently applied for my 10 years green card which is in process. I will be eligible for N-400 on Oct 30th 2016. Due to family reasons I have to go back to India, may be in June/July 2016. Here are my questions: Is there any way I can preserve my GC without loosing it even I am outside USA? I want to live on green card only. at this moment I have no plans to apply for US citizenship even though I am eligible from October. Please suggest me how can I save my 10 years GC with frequent travels to uSA,like travel to USA less than 6 months? less than 1 year? Is it ok If I travel once in a year to save my GC? I remember hearing that we can maintain our GC status by staying 6 months in a 5 years span. Is it true? Please guide me. Link to comment
JoeF
With a GC, you have to live in the US. It is NOT enough to live abroad and travel to the US once or twice a year. Visits abroad have to be temporary in nature, and have to have a clear ending date. Link to comment
