Travel to India for a US citizen of Indian Origin

Hi,

 

I am on H1B visa, My child is a US citizen. Need to travel to India in next 2 months and stay there for 3 months. I have learned that if we apply for OCI card , the process takes atleast 3 months. Can we apply for a Tourist visa? or entry visa? What is the best option to go to India for a US citizen of Indian origin.

VISA takes few days whereas OCI takes few months for processing. So visa is the best option.

Initiate the OCI process but apply for a Tourist Visa and have him travel using that. Visa will be valid for several years but a single stay CANNOT exceed 180 days. You dont need to send his passport to initiate OCI.
