H1b expiring in June 2016. Travelling to India

Hi 

 

My H1B visa is expiring in June 2016. I need to travel to India in Feb 2016 and be back by end of Feb. I have the stamping validity till June 2016. Please let me know if its safe to travel since i will have about 4 months before expiry. 

 

2. I haven't applied for extension yet since i don't want to travel during processing. is it advisable to apply for extension and travel?

 

3. Are there any specific documents suggested  to be carried to be on the safer side?

 

I would greatly appreciate your responses.

1. Travel is fine as long as your I797 & petition is valid.

Thanks for the reply.Also may i know if its a good idea to start the processing for extension while/before travelling or better to initiate once i am back to US?
